It's nostalgic, yes, but clutters the chat unnecessarily.

Maybe make a command-line option or flag so they're default on, but people can opt out.

I kind of agree to this even if I like them turned on. It's a nice way to keep your chat player-only during times that you want to read it as much as possible.
